Hyundai назвала будущий кроссовер Kona «важным этапом на пути компании к своей цели стать до 2021 года лидирующим азиатским автобрендом в Европе». Название отражает энергетику и уникальный образ жизни региона Кона на Большом острове. Также отмечено, что новинка получит гены настоящего SUV, прогрессивный дизайн и опции из сегмента «премиум».
Судя по первому изображению (под заголовком) кроссовер Kona создан по мотивам концепта Intrado, показанного в 2014 году на Женевском автосалоне. По предварительной информации паркетник построен на модернизированной платформе хэтчбека i20 с возможностью установки бензиновых турбомотором объемом 1.0 л и 1.4 л, а также турбодизеля 1.6 CRDi. Ожидается, что базовые версии будет переднеприводными, а старшие модификации обзаведутся полным приводом.

Дата премьеры нового Hyundai Kona пока не названа. Не исключено, что новинка дебютирует в середине апреля на автосалоне в Нью-Йорке.
